Bridgend Local Safeguarding Children Board
The Bridgend Local Safeguarding Children Board (BLSCB) was established as a requirement of the Children Act 2004. It replaced the Area Child Protection Committee and has increased statutory powers and responsibilities.
The BLSCB is responsible for meeting one of the Welsh Assembly Government's key objectives for children: that of children having a safe home and community which supports physical and emotional well-being. This includes prevention of significant harm or the risk of significant harm as well as the wider remit of ensuring that a child's welfare is safeguarded.
The BLSCB contributes to the Welsh Assembly Government's other 6 key aims for children which are to:
- have a flying start in life
- have a comprehensive range of education and learning opportunities
- enjoy the best possible health and are free from abuse, victimisation and exploitation
- have access to play, leisure, sporting and cultural activities
- are listened to, treated with respect, and have their race and cultural identity recognised
- are not disadvantaged by poverty
The Bridgend Local Safeguarding Children Board is committed to keeping safe all children who live in and visit the County Borough of Bridgend. It is responsible for developing, monitoring and reviewing child protection and child safety policies, procedures and practice.
This is a new web-site for the board and further information will be added shortly.
